Of course, Crockett argues that the election was a tougher battle because Harris was a woman of color. Yet many Americans saw her as simply riding the coattails of identity politics, not exactly the trailblazer she was hoped to be.
Let’s not forget the candid admission from Biden himself when he selected Harris as his running mate — her gender and race played a significant role in that decision. It turns out that packaging matters a great deal less than delivery, especially to a public far sharper than many give credit for. The new book by Biden’s biographer sheds light on the unraveling of Harris’s dreams as she realized, with some help from trusted advisors, that reclaiming the blue wall states was no longer feasible. One can only imagine Harris clutching her pearls, dramatically wondering about America’s future.
While Democrats like Crockett continue to sit in denial, convinced they fielded the most “qualified” candidates, the party as a whole remains a ship without a captain. It’s clear that the liberal community desires a leader with fresh ideas, someone who truly connects with the working-class American. Yet, they’re stuck in a loop, playing the same establishment card that has repeatedly failed them. Even prominent figures like Stephen A. Smith believe they could waltz onto the stage and sweep the floor with these supposed frontrunners.
The internal strife within the Democratic Party is palpable and undoubtedly more entertaining than the latest summer blockbuster. Nancy Pelosi, the venerable iron hand of her party, is having a challenging time keeping this civil war under wraps. Her years of suppressing younger and potentially more vibrant voices are catching up with her. The younger generation thirsts for change and is no longer content playing in the shadows cast by ageing figureheads.
As the Democrats attempt to navigate this turbulent sea, one must appreciate the irony. For years, their primary focus seemed to be toppling Donald Trump rather than nurturing genuine policy and progress. Now, caught without a true agenda, they struggle to present a united front.
