Once again, Seattle seems to have wandered dangerously close to the edge of utter chaos. Over the weekend, the city resembled a scene from some dystopian action movie, with unruly crowds doing their utmost to sow disorder. At one point, fireworks were launched at a federal building, and efforts were made to set this pillar of justice ablaze. Yet astonishingly, while there was a delay, the police did eventually intervene after the fire started, engaging with the protesters. One can’t help but wonder if this scene was a stage show with local authorities seemingly delayed in their response.
The silence from those who were vocally outraged on January 6th is deafening. Their selective outrage seems to only stretch as far as their political comfort zone allows. Somehow, when chaos erupts in cities run by those on the opposite end of the political spectrum, there seems to be an imaginary cloak of invisibility. The glaring lack of media attention demonstrates an outright refusal to acknowledge what is happening in their supposed utopian havens.
Unfortunately, mainstream media continues to turn a blind eye to the intimidation journalists face when reporting from these hotbeds of disorder. It’s curious how the concern for journalists’ safety seems to take a back seat when the story doesn’t fit the desired political narrative. This indifference raises the question—are these bastions of progressivism truly committed to free speech, or only when it serves their agenda?
In the end, the weekend’s events in Seattle serve as a stark reminder of the double standards that plague our current discourse. While some gleefully point fingers at perceived transgressions elsewhere, their own backyard remains a tempest of their own making, conveniently ignored for the sake of maintaining a particular storyline. This creates not only a divide among Americans but also a disservice to the public who deserve to know the full, unabridged truth.
