The Trump administration is finally taking action against another swamp creature who thinks the rules don’t apply to her. Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook is now under criminal investigation by the Department of Justice for alleged mortgage fraud. This is exactly the kind of accountability we voted for when we put President Trump back in the White House.
Bill Pulte from the Federal Housing Finance Agency sent criminal referral letters to the DOJ last month. The allegations are serious and straightforward. Cook allegedly falsified bank documents and property records to get better loan terms on properties in Georgia and Michigan.
While ordinary Americans get hammered by high interest rates and can’t afford homes, Cook was apparently gaming the system for her own benefit. Federal investigators are now issuing subpoenas and using grand juries in both states. The evidence must be strong enough to warrant this level of investigation.
Of course Cook’s lawyers are crying politics and calling this a witch hunt. That’s the same playbook every corrupt bureaucrat uses when they get caught. They always claim they’re being persecuted when the truth is they’re finally being held accountable for their actions.
The Federal Reserve has been working against American families for years with their failed policies. Now we’re learning that at least one of their governors may have been breaking the law while lecturing us about financial responsibility. The hypocrisy is stunning but not surprising.
President Trump is trying to clean house at the Fed and remove officials who put their own interests above America’s. Cook’s team claims Trump is just looking for excuses to fire her. Maybe that’s because she shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
This investigation shows that no one is above the law, not even the elite bureaucrats who think they run this country. The swamp creatures are finally being drained out of their cushy government positions. Justice is coming for those who have betrayed the American people’s trust.
