Minnesota’s Twin Cities Face Crisis: Lawlessness and Fraud Exposed

Dave Rubin has been pushing a DM clip from independent reporter Nick Shirley that lays bare what many Minnesotans already sense: parts of the Somali community in the Twin Cities have become lawless corridors where intimidation and gangs operate openly. Rubin’s short take is blunt — Americans deserve the truth about what’s happening in their cities, even when the media or politicians want to look away.

Shirley’s on-the-ground footage shows confrontations, frightened residents who won’t speak freely on camera, and an episode where his crew says they were chased out of Cedar-Riverside by a man who appeared to be carrying a weapon. Independent videos and social posts backing up that account have gone viral, and they should sober any leader who still thinks open borders and lax enforcement are risk-free.

Let’s be clear: Cedar-Riverside — the so-called “Little Mogadishu” — has long been a place of refuge for refugees and a center of vibrant Somali life in America, as local reporting has documented. But sanctuary without assimilation can calcify into parallel societies where the rule of law is weak and cultural norms clash with American expectations, and that’s precisely the danger conservatives have warned about.

This story is not just about street footage; it ties into a far bigger scandal unfolding in Minnesota — massive fraud schemes that federal prosecutors say siphoned hundreds of millions from child nutrition, housing, and autism programs. Investigations into Feeding Our Future, Housing Stabilization Services, and other scams have produced dozens of charges and guilty pleas, and they expose how porous government programs are when ideology and identity politics trump oversight.

Worse still, investigators and watchdog reporters have presented evidence suggesting some of the stolen money was routed overseas through informal remittance networks, raising the horrifying possibility that U.S. taxpayer dollars wound up in the hands of al-Shabaab operatives in Somalia. Federal agencies including the Treasury have opened probes, and Americans have a right to know whether public funds were funneled to terrorist networks.

None of this happened in a vacuum — it is the predictable result of soft-on-crime politics, mass-relocation policies, and coddling from local and state officials who feared being labeled intolerant. State social-service employees and watchdogs say their warnings were ignored, and that failure of leadership is the real scandal that should unite every American who cares about accountability.

Patriots don’t bash whole communities; we demand the truth, enforce the law, and restore common-sense immigration and assimilation policies so every neighborhood can be safe and prosperous. If elected officials won’t act, voters must — insist on investigations, prosecutions, and reforms that stop fraud, dismantle criminal networks, and make sure taxpayer money helps children and families instead of funding luxury lifestyles overseas.
