A.I. Fearmongering: The Left’s New Climate Change Agenda?

In this bustling bazaar of the post-truth world, it seems like the perpetual soundbite is that it’s all about Trump. The elites, with their once unchallenged command over communication and Hollywood glamour, lament their waning influence. According to the stalwart voices of conventional wisdom, we find ourselves in a “crisis of trust.” But is it really a trust issue, or perhaps more accurately, a trustworthiness issue?

Take a gander at the handling of recent events, like the pandemic, and one can understand why faith in leadership has been so thoroughly eviscerated. Unlike the convenient scapegoat of a larger-than-life billionaire businessman from Queens, the real stumbling block to public confidence lies in the actions of those who held the reins during critical times. The mixed messages, inconsistencies, and suppression of dissenting opinions seemed to highlight old-world leadership’s ineptitude. No wonder people feel disillusioned when the institutions they are supposed to rely on emulate a patchwork of shifting sands.

The conundrum doesn’t stop at institutions; even the stock we put into the next gadget or tech marvel is scrutinized under a similar lens of skepticism. The doom-laden prophecies of Artificial Intelligence taking over could very well be the climate alarmism of the digital age. Tech no-nos aren’t exactly new. Remember the head-scratching decree to safeguard jobs under threat from self-driving trucks? Opposition to innovation, in the name of preserving what was, threatens to stand in the way of progress. If only the buggy whip makers had had self-driving carriages to fret about.

And then there’s the elephant lounging in our proverbial living room, graciously left undiscussed by mainstream naysayers: the “post-truth” label supposedly dissecting modern discourse. Critics argue it’s a sad commentary on people’s tendency to go with gut feelings over clarified facts—yet they overlook an uncomfortable reality: sometimes, the naked truth aligns with intuition. When elite pundits fail to see eye-to-eye with the public on ‘right and wrong,’ it’s easier to declare society “post-truth.” Ironically, this assertion often rings hollow when the average person can spot obvious inconsistencies that the analyst class downplays.

So here we stand at an intermission of history, where the familiar world order shifts to reveal new alliances and rivalries. Perhaps the boomer leaders are mere disentangled remnants of a past that no longer addresses today’s needs. The future, still an unexplored frontier, might be forged by a generation unafraid to demand accountability and authenticity. No expert panel can predict exactly what’s in store, but anyone can rest assured—truth, stubborn and elusive as it may be, will navigate the clutter and chaos of the so-called crisis.

In a paradox of modernity, the public is not just an audience but an active contender. The insistence on clear-eyed, critical thinking might well be the lifeline out of today’s tumult. Society’s bedrock could once more become resilient to manipulation. The bright side of such stormy transitions is the reminder that it rests with people to steer the cultural conversation. After all, keeping our wits about us, regardless of convoluted media narratives, is where true strength resides. And it might just yield an era of renewed sagacity and vigor.
