In the world of international politics, it seems as if Iran is once again causing a ruckus, trying to flex its muscles on the global stage. President Trump, in his unique style, has been working hard to keep things from turning into a full-blown circus. He’s been in quite the pickle with Iran pushing buttons and Israel not far behind, almost like a game of international chess. Interestingly, though, President Trump seems to be growing a tad bit impatient with the ongoing situation, as if he didn’t get enough drama from the daily Twitter spats alone.
Iran has been at it with their missile launches, while Israel has been tackling Hezbollah. In this merry-go-round of chaos, Trump is reportedly telling everyone to cool it down. The message sounds a bit like a parent telling kids that they’ve had enough candy, and it’s time to discuss the family budget. However, the situation is tricky. Iran’s antics are clearly an escalation, with fingers being pointed at Israel and Trump caught in the middle of the equation. Sadly, those missiles aren’t chocolate sprinkles.
The President seems to be all about that big stick diplomacy, and he’s made it clear there are both political and human stakes at play. Yet, while diplomacy is fine and dandy, Trump faces the challenge of needing to address Iran’s missile attacks without letting them get away with anything too cheeky. This sounds easier said than done. After all, while diplomatic dinners might offer the best spread, sometimes folks at those tables just want a food fight instead of a side of compromise.
As it stands, President Trump isn’t exactly thrilled with Israel’s approach either, especially with things heating up between Israel and Lebanon. He found himself urging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take a breather before Lebanon becomes the latest hotspot hard to cool down. It is a sticky situation in every sense, with lives at stake and rising tensions creating a menu of political headaches. Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Christians and other innocents are caught in the crossfire – hardly a recipe for a peaceful banquet.
With missiles flying yet failing to hit the mark, it appears Iran either has a weak swing or a penchant for symbolism. Yet, for Trump, the path to peace needs to be paved with concrete achievements concerning Iran’s nuclear capabilities rather than the aftermath of a failed fireworks show. As the President stews over his options and contemplates how not to let American wallets be drained at the gas pump, the hope remains for a solution that doesn’t make everyone lose their appetite – politically speaking, of course.
