Liberals Say They’re “Over It” But Is That True?

In a scene that could only be described as chaotic bedlam, a California mall found itself under siege, not by marauding shoppers on Black Friday, but by a gang of unruly kids riding bikes as if filming the latest action-packed movie. Picture this: a serene shopping day turned upside down as a group of daredevils whizzed past, narrowly missing elders bustling by with shopping bags. It’s the kind of free-for-all that has people asking, where are the parents? Imagine the shock of being treated to this two-wheeled hooliganism instead of a pleasant stroll through the mall.

These rowdy scenes bring about the all-too-familiar reminder that it’s up to parents to guide and discipline kids. Long gone are the days when the mere mention of a parent’s full name invoked enough fear to keep any child on their best behavior. But alas, somewhere in the pursuit of modernity, something was lost, and it wasn’t just common courtesy. It doesn’t take a genius to conclude that raising well-rounded kids is not about handing them off to state institutions or expecting someone else to do the hard work.

Just look at the frustration when businesses pack up and leave, creating what experts now call “food deserts.” These are places where buying a simple carton of milk becomes an ordeal worthy of heroics. And where do people point the finger when this happens? You guessed it—right back at the societal changes that are, ironically, driven by behaviors they condone. The very parents who turn a blind eye to their kids’ antics are the ones lamenting when every lock-up aisle becomes the norm in retail.

This whole escapade serves as a lesson in respect for the society we live in, handed down by the hard work of our previous generations. Such disregard just paves the way for more stores closing their doors, leaving behind lonely parking lots occupied by more than just cars. It’s not about being strict or old-fashioned—it’s about ensuring that the next generation grows up with enough discipline not to turn every mall adventure into a viral video spectacle.

A simple question punctuates the entire debacle: what would happen if moms of yesteryear saw their offspring involved in such a scenario? Those mothers may not have Instagram or Facebook timelines full of likes and comments, but they sure did know a thing or two about discipline. Perhaps it’s time to channel a bit of that old-school wisdom and bring back respect for public spaces. After all, nobody wants a trip to the mall to feel more like a risky rodeo than a retail respite.
