Failed Assassin Idolizes Notorious Luigi Mangione in Bessent Plot

In a world where political differences often escalate to heated debates, it’s unfortunate but not entirely surprising to witness a shocking case of violence like the one involving Ryan Michael English. This individual, deeply concerned with trans rights, attempted to carry out a sinister plot against the Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessant. One can only wonder what led someone to believe that a folding knife and Molotov cocktails were appropriate tools for enacting social change. One might even say that when your toolkit involves firebombs, you might have taken a wrong turn on the road of activism.

Ryan Michael English, also known by another name, Riley, had an interesting way of advocating for trans rights, which included trespassing on the capital’s sacred grounds with enough weaponry to make a henchman from an action movie blush. Thankfully, the Capitol Police were on their A-game, preventing any harm before English’s overzealous activism turned into a tragedy. Now, English is swapping the fiery rhetoric for a 73-month stay in prison, courtesy of the justice system reminding us all that the law frowns upon attempted assassination.

The judge handling the matter noted that English’s judgment may have been clouded by physical and mental health struggles, possibly exacerbated by drug use. It’s a classic case of personal issues spilling over into public actions, with English now set to pay the price for letting those issues manifest in such a dangerous manner. Meanwhile, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant must feel a bit like a character in a thriller novel, having survived an assassination attempt just hours after stepping into a new role. Talk about a stressful first day at work.

U.S. Attorney for D.C., Janine Piro, put her foot down in no uncertain terms. Her office, representing the law-abiding public, will not humor any schemes to intimidate or harm public officials. It doesn’t matter how passionate you are about a cause; there are right ways and wrong ways to effect change. Molotov cocktails, unsurprisingly, are squarely in the latter category. English is now a convicted felon facing consequences that could serve as a deterrent to others who believe violent actions will help their cause.

English’s disturbing admiration for someone named Luigi Manion only adds another bizarre layer to this tale. Perhaps English fancied himself as a crusader miscast in a poorly executed fan-fiction. Fortunately, the justice system isn’t a tale of fiction, and it took a very real stance against what English intended to execute. Now, English has ample time to ponder the finer points of peaceful protest while the rest of the world is reminded that armed political activism simply isn’t the way to go.
