Trump Fights for Ranchers, Farmers: Labor Chief Explains Plan

The Labor Day weekend kicked off with a bang as the U.S. economy defied expectations by adding 162,000 new jobs in August. Remember, the so-called experts were guessing around 50,000. They were only off by a mere 112,000 jobs—no biggie, right? Meanwhile, unemployment is still at a steady 4.1%, and wages jumped by 3.1%. That’s a lot of good news for Americans, but of course, some folks are still concerned about rising prices. President Trump, not one to sit idly by, is pressuring the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates. Heaven forbid they listen to common sense.

Now, what’s causing all this economic sunshine? Apparently, President Trump has delivered on his promises, hitting a milestone of over 1 million new private sector jobs in his second term. While the federal government was busy shedding 350,000 jobs like an early autumn leaf drop, the private sector was surging. Factories and high-skilled jobs are the name of the game, with 100,000 new construction jobs and 58,000 new manufacturing jobs added. America is out there with its hard hat on, ready to dig in and get stuff done. It’s a grand return to form for the industries that built this nation. Cue the patriotic music.

While on a roll, President Trump is also putting ranchers on his priority list. He announced a program to let small and medium-sized ranchers sell directly to consumers, sidestepping the big middlemen. There will also be labeling to show off true American beef. Let’s face it, people like to know if their steak is as American as apple pie. Though some ranchers are still worried about foreign beef imports, the administration reassures us that they’re committed to producing more American cattle. Plus, tackling the issue of pesky gray Mexican wolves is also on the to-do list – talk about a full agenda.

Speaking of the future, artificial intelligence (AI) isn’t just in sci-fi movies anymore. It’s here and it’s creating a surge in jobs, contradicting the naysayers like, surprise surprise, Senator Bernie Sanders. Jobs in welding, pipe fitting, and tech support are on the rise as the country builds data centers to handle the AI avalanche. The plan is for American workers to build, operate, and innovate with these tools, ensuring AI remains an ally, not a competitor. Of course, we’re keeping an eye on China and Russia, who are rushing to the AI finish line with less regard for voter opinion—we have a democracy to uphold, after all.

While the demand for data centers brings economic opportunity, not everyone wants one in their backyard. The typical NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) sentiment is alive and well. For every community eager for investment, another worries about gigantic AI facilities and their impact on local resources. The administration’s challenge is not just building these centers but making sure Americans understand and support them. Big tech needs a lesson in winning hearts and minds, perhaps starting with a little effort to regain public trust. With a $22.3 trillion industry at stake by 2030, money, as always, will have a say in the matter. But wouldn’t it be nice if common sense made a cameo appearance, too?
