As O’Han pointedly noted, when he probed industry veterans about why things remained stagnant, the response was a bit startling: “This is the way it’s always been done.” Thankfully, it appears those days are rapidly coming to an end.

Jump aims to streamline the fan experience by eliminating the need for multiple usernames, passwords, and vendors, thus removing pesky ticketing fees. This seamless integration has already attracted several teams, including the North Carolina Courage from the National Women’s Soccer League and Minnesota’s Timberwolves and Lynx in the NBA and WNBA. This young tech company’s software-as-a-service model is designed to adapt to the size of each team, charging a licensing fee while collecting a small percentage from transactions made through the platform. While their current annual revenue is less than $10 million, the sky is the limit as more franchises begin to realize the potential benefits.

As league owners look for creative ways to increase revenue, especially in the wake of the pandemic, Jump has positioned itself as a valuable ally. With emerging leagues gaining traction and a passionate fan base eager to support them, opportunities abound for innovative solutions. Lizer has been toying with these ideas for years and, following Rodriguez and Lori’s unsuccessful bid for the New York Mets, the time felt right to take action.
