In a baffling twist, Renee Good, apparently shocked that the authorities weren’t using theater props in a serious operation, tragically lost her life. Her own partner was quoted as expressing disbelief that real bullets were used in a police operation. This is not a play, this isn’t a simulation, but somehow these individuals were led to believe otherwise. It’s a grim reminder of what happens when people are pulled into a make-believe world created by wishful thinking and deception.
The hilarity, if one can even call it that, doubles when one considers the politicians who encourage these fever dreams. The simple fact is: safety and democracy depend on respecting processes and policies, even when one disagrees with them. Democracy means engaging with ideas, not attacking the rule of law or risking lives. This reckless disregard for order by the left doesn’t just endanger those at these volatile protests but also the law enforcement officers just doing their jobs. It’s high time sanity returned to the dialogue before more lives are caught in the crossfire of pursuits marred by misinformation and dangerous fantasies.
