In the topsy-turvy world of modern politics, it seems that basic principles of law and order get tossed aside like yesterday’s news. It’s rather astounding that some politicians are more inclined to jet off to El Salvador to meet with individuals like Kilmar Argo Garcia rather than address substantial issues affecting American citizens. Apparently, advocating for those without legal status in the U.S. is in vogue, while attending to the needs of victims of crimes perpetrated by such individuals is, as some might say, oh-so-terribly inconvenient.
Talk about turning reality on its head. Many of these so-called victims of ICE, mind you, have criminal records. Yet, it is their plight that garners more impassioned speeches from certain lawmakers than the legitimate sufferings of American families. We have a litany of names like Jocelyn Nungare and Rachel Morren who have suffered unimaginable losses, yet their stories seem to disappear all too quickly from the national conversation. Must be some magical trick of disappearing ink because when the time comes for politicians to tweet or publicly acknowledge these victims, there’s nothing but crickets.
To add another layer of chaos to this baffling situation, there was an appalling attack on the Department of Homeland Security in Idaho. You’d think that someone trying to incinerate a government building would be headline news. Alas, it was largely swept under the rug. This silence is deafening, not because the event wasn’t newsworthy, but perhaps because it doesn’t fit into the preferred narrative. Physical attacks against institutions meant to protect us have become disturbingly routine. Yet, the national response seems to be a yawn, followed by a quick pivot to whatever next rounds the corner.
Meanwhile, they say ‘silence is golden,’ but it seems to be titanium when it comes to these outrageous acts. One could almost believe this hushed response is an endorsement of far-left extremism. When ICE deals with criminals, it’s painted as the horror of horrors by some quarters. Let these law enforcement officers try to do their jobs, and there’s outrage. But when agents of chaos strike at the heart of federal departments, there’s scarcely a word spoken. Are we just reading from a script where everything is backwards?
Then let’s not overlook the schools where chaos seems to be encouraged. One wonders if civics classes now include field trips to protests instead of the library. Students have not only been skipping school to join anti-ICE protests, but even engaging in ransacking sprees at places like Kroger’s. It’s a puzzling form of education, yet it seems there are educators who implicitly support such endeavors. Never mind imparting knowledge in reading, writing, and arithmetic. Apparently, the new curriculum involves playing truant to make a statement, and in return, making a mockery of law and order. What a wild ride this world is becoming, when lawlessness is championed by those entrusted to educate the young minds of tomorrow.
