In Los Angeles, it seems the city officials and the mayor can’t quite get along with President Trump or his immigration measures. Los Angeles is a proud sanctuary jurisdiction, which means they don’t support deporting illegal immigrants, even during Trump’s first term trying tirelessly to enforce immigration laws. But let’s not kid ourselves; it’s not just Los Angeles that’s up in arms. Plenty of left-leaning Californians are up in arms about Trump’s efforts to secure the southern border, but it’s clear that a lot of Americans actually want illegal immigration curtailed significantly. Unlike the past administration, under President Trump, the numbers at the border don’t lie. Apprehensions have plummeted, and many are pleased to see some order being restored.
Despite the constant noise from liberals, Trump’s administration is doing what was promised: enforcing immigration laws effectively and decisively. President Biden’s previous insistence on needing Congress and new authorities to address the crisis doesn’t hold water anymore. All it seemingly took was the will of a new president, and surprise, surprise, border encounters are at an all-time low. Apparently, all the people needed was a president willing to act. While liberals may never admit it, the security of U.S. borders is something many citizens expect and appreciate.
In a recent legal victory, Trump earned a helping hand from the courts by proving the legality of deploying the National Guard in Los Angeles. Despite being frequently challenged in court, Trump’s administration is notching up an increasing number of legal victories, especially concerning immigration. Even the typically liberal Ninth Circuit Court acknowledged Trump’s authority in nationalizing the California Guard. It seems Governor Newsom and other naysayers underestimated Trump’s legal standing. In this game, it looks like Trump is coming out on top, much to the dismay of liberal leaders.
Getting into the nitty-gritty of Los Angeles itself, Mayor Karen Bass doesn’t seem to appreciate the presence of federal officers in her city. Her vocal opposition is, to put it mildly, less than flattering. Apparently, in her world, federal law enforcement is to blame for all the commotion when it seems rather obvious that the looters and rioters are the ones causing chaos. Claiming that ICE and the National Guard instigate violence is a bizarre way to pass the buck, and it’s fairly easy to see through that smokescreen.
The plot thickens when one follows the money trail of these relentless protests. They aren’t as grassroots as some might claim; the funding for these large-scale rallies often comes from organized left-wing groups. This isn’t new, of course. Back in 2020, nationwide protests looked suspiciously well-oiled, so it’s hardly a shocker now. These aren’t just a few disgruntled activists; these protests are bolstered by resources that seem to arrive out of thin air, courtesy of well-backed organizations. It’s high time these financiers were held accountable, and Trump’s Justice Department surely has their work cut out for them.
