Congresswoman Calls to Defund Misguided Higher Education

It’s another day in the realm of American academia, and Harvard University is at the center of controversy yet again. Today, the prestigious institution decided to defy President Trump’s recent order to cut diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and take action against pro-Hamas protesters. This bold move potentially risks Harvard’s federal funding, but let’s face it—this isn’t the first time elite universities have opted to side with questionable causes rather than aligning with national interests.

The situation on college campuses has reached a boiling point, especially when it comes to anti-Semitic rhetoric. During a hearing, officials were questioned about whether the kind of hostile environment fostered by pro-Hamas protests violates school codes on bullying and harassment. In a display of classic academic double-speak, the responses were as slippery as an eel in a barrel of oil. The temptation to add nuance and context at every turn seems to be the norm when it deals with anti-Semitism, but one can’t help but wonder if the same leniency would be shown for issues involving transgender, LGBTQ+, or race-related matters.

The Biden Administration was caught spectating from the sidelines, taking no definitive action to ensure the safety of Jewish students or to hold universities accountable. The baffling inaction led to the resignation of several university presidents, probably wishing they had opted for a simpler life as a philosophy professor somewhere obscure. President Trump, in stark contrast, took decisive action to defund these institutions, arguing that taxpayer money shouldn’t support entities that turn a blind eye to anti-Semitism while they happily pocket billions in endowments.

The American taxpayer should be asking themselves why they are shouldering the financial burden of these “intellectual” powerhouses, especially when plenty of alternative educational paths could use the support. Community colleges and trade schools offer valuable—and more importantly—practical skills that feed right back into the economy. It’s time taxpayers realized that their hard-earned dollars are better spent supporting local educational initiatives rather than subsidizing the tuition at campuses that can’t seem to stop funding divisive programs.

In the end, the message is clear. The ivory towers of higher education have drifted away from traditional values, clouded by their own sense of entitlement. President Trump and many conservative voices stand firm in holding these institutions accountable by defunding them until they learn their lesson. The future of education lies in common sense, practical skill development, and a commitment to the nation’s values—a far cry from current university antics. It’s high time they get their act together, or perhaps some of these overrated institutions might find themselves out of business.
