A sitting member of Congress just showed her true colors on foreign soil. Rep. Delia Ramirez from Illinois told a crowd in Mexico City that she is a “proud Guatemalan before an American.” This is exactly the kind of America-last thinking that is destroying our country from within.
Ramirez sits on the House Homeland Security Committee. Think about that for a second. The woman helping make decisions about our national security just admitted she puts another country first. How can we trust someone who openly declares their loyalty lies elsewhere?
Conservative patriots are rightfully outraged by this shocking display of disloyalty. Republican Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee called for her citizenship to be revoked and for her to be deported immediately. Even the Department of Homeland Security responded with a famous quote from Teddy Roosevelt about rejecting hyphenated Americans.
This is the same congresswoman who called President Trump’s administration fascist. She demanded that Homeland Security Secretary resign and wanted to defund ICE completely. Now we know why she hates America’s immigration enforcement so much.
Born in Chicago to Guatemalan parents, Ramirez had every opportunity America offers. Instead of showing gratitude to the country that gave her family everything, she spits in our face. This is what happens when we elect people who see America as just another place on the map.
Real Americans put America first, period. We don’t care what country your parents came from once you take the oath of citizenship. But Ramirez clearly never understood what it means to be an American.
Her pathetic response on social media tried to clean up her mess. She claimed honoring her ancestry strengthens her commitment to America. Sorry, but putting Guatemala first while serving in our Congress is not honoring anything except foreign interests.
Congress needs to act now. Remove her from the Homeland Security Committee immediately. Better yet, remove her from Congress entirely. Americans deserve representatives who actually represent America, not Guatemala.
