They want to shut down any honest conversation about immigration by slapping the racist label on hardworking Americans who simply want secure borders and safe streets. Conservatives aren’t against legal immigration or compassion — we’re against lawlessness, criminality, and leadership that treats the rule of law like a suggestion. When your community is overwhelmed and your towns are stretched thin, standing up for common-sense enforcement isn’t a crime, it’s patriotism.
Some on the right have pointed fingers at foreign regimes, claiming entire prison and psychiatric systems are being emptied and shipped to our southern border. Multiple independent fact-checkers and experts have found no evidence of any official policy by countries like Venezuela to systematically free inmates or mental patients and send them to the United States; these claims don’t meet the burden of proof and should not be used to excuse official failure.
That said, the border itself has been in chaos for years and the numbers tell a blunt story: encounters at the southern border surged to record levels during the last several years, straining CBP and local communities and creating real public-safety and fiscal problems that taxpayers must shoulder. Whether the migrants are fleeing violence or seeking opportunity, when millions come irregularly and our system is overloaded, bad actors inevitably slip through the cracks and local officials are left to deal with the consequences.
Why does this happen? Policy choices matter. Programs that funnel people through parole processes or the CBP One app have enabled large numbers to enter or be released into the interior rather than being lawfully processed or turned away at ports of entry — and that has real, measurable effects on enforcement capacity and community safety. Republicans and watchdogs argue that these administrative fixes amount to de facto amnesty by other means and the American people deserve straightforward answers about how many people are being paroled, where they’re going, and who is responsible.
Our border agents and ICE officers are stretched to the breaking point, and internal oversight has highlighted staffing shortages, “gotaways,” and operational failures that are a direct result of policy and leadership choices from Washington. If Washington won’t secure the border and back our law enforcement, then communities and governors will be forced to pick up the pieces — and that’s neither efficient nor fair to the men and women on the front lines.
The left’s reflex is to weaponize guilt and demand we ignore the practical consequences of open borders while lecturing us about compassion. Real compassion protects citizens first, treats migrants humanely, and insists on orderly legal processes rather than endless, unsustainable flows that reward smugglers and criminal networks. Americans can be both compassionate and secure; we don’t have to choose.
It’s time for lawmakers to stop playing political games and start doing the hard work of restoring border security: end loopholes that invite mass parole, fund border enforcement and detention where needed, work with neighboring countries to return criminals, and fix our asylum system so it actually serves people in true need. Hardworking Americans want a government that secures its borders, defends its people, and enforces its laws — anything less is a betrayal of our duty to the nation.
