Democrats’ Double Standard on Migrant Crime Exposed by Megyn Kelly

In recent events, the response from some political figures on the left regarding certain tragic incidents has been rather telling, and not in a particularly flattering way. The situation surrounding Governor JB Pritzker’s recent reaction, or lack thereof, to the murder of Sheridan Gorman highlights a glaring inconsistency in how some choose which tragedies to spotlight or politicize. This selective attention raises critical questions about priorities and responsibility, especially when it comes to administration policies and law enforcement issues.

Governor Pritzker’s weak acknowledgment of Sheridan Gorman’s tragic murder is puzzling. His delayed response and generic statement on social media felt almost obligatory rather than sincere. The fact that he omitted any mention of the suspect’s status as an undocumented immigrant—a central aspect of the tragedy—is telling. It suggests an unwillingness to address the root of the problem, possibly due to political convenience or ideological allegiance. This silence does little to honor the victim or comfort the grieving community, and instead, it reflects an avoidance of tough truths.

Contrast this with Pritzker’s vocal presence at memorials for individuals whose interactions with law enforcement ended fatally, where he was quick to point fingers at Trump administration officials. His eagerness to publicly admonish government figures highlights a remarkable double standard. When it comes to aligning himself against President Trump, the governor seems to have no problem stepping into the spotlight, making his views conspicuously known. However, when it comes to a local tragedy with clear links to broader policy issues on immigration enforcement, he retreats behind generic postings on social media.

There seems to be a pattern where blame is deflected onto opposing political figures, regardless of the context. For instance, rather than addressing the systematic issues and recognizing the need for stringent immigration policies, Pritzker chose to criticize President Trump for purportedly politicizing a tragedy. Yet, it appears quite the opposite is true. The Trump administration has consistently pointed out the need for practical solutions and accountability, something Pritzker and his allies seem unwilling to address holistically.

Today’s political climate demands accountability and integrity from leaders. As communities grapple with complex issues such as immigration and law enforcement, it is critical for public figures to address these concerns transparently and urgently. Unfortunately, Governor Pritzker’s selective empathy and reactive measures do not inspire confidence. Instead, they underscore a need for pragmatic solutions rather than surface-level engagement. If leaders genuinely wish to address tragedies like Sheridan Gorman’s, acknowledging all contributing factors candidly is the first step toward meaningful change.
