Family’s Pleas Ignored in Scott Spivey Case Cover-Up?

In South Carolina, a road rage incident is turning into something much bigger than anyone initially thought. In September 2023, Scott Spivey, after leaving a bar, found himself in a bitterly dangerous situation on the road. As Scott was driving home, he got way too close to another car driven by Weldon Boyd, and apparently, the whole thing escalated when guns got involved. Boyd, claiming he was being threatened, swerved off the road, managed to get back on, and then decided to play cop by chasing Scott for nine miles. The notorious dashboard warriors out there can tell you: if you’ve got to drive nine miles before you handle the “threat,” maybe it wasn’t that threatening to begin with.

Now, instead of both men simply calling it a night and walking away unscathed, things took a deadly turn. Boyd reported to 911 that he was armed, and so was Scott, and laid out quite the ultimatum – he’ll shoot if Scott keeps on doing what he called ‘threatening.’ When Scott finally pulled over, guess what? With Boyd alleging a threat, he took the dramatic step of shooting Scott, who was reportedly trying to retreat to his truck. Boyd claimed he acted in self-defense, and miraculously, the judicial system seemed to give him a pass. But the family of Scott Spivey, left in the dark about the incident, wasn’t exactly buying this story, and they’ve been hot on the trail for the whole truth ever since.

Things get even juicier with the release of an audio recording. Deputy Chief Brandon Strickland is heard discussing the case with Boyd, and it sounds more like a cozy chat between old pals than a serious legal matter. Strickland mentions the uncomfortableness of having a friend involved and assures Boyd he’s being ‘taken care of.’ It’s little comments like these that make people put on their tin foil hats and start questioning authority, because it sure smells fishy to anyone willing to take a whiff. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Deputy Chief Strickland resigned amidst an investigation into his possible misconduct.

The Spivey family is naturally upset with how things have unfolded. For shock value, it must be mentioned that Scott apparently was shot from behind. So, either Boyd is the Wild West’s greatest quick-drawer, firing at a retreating man with unerring accuracy, or something went majorly awry that night. With new evidence hinting at a video of the incident, the plot thickens. While authorities have been dragging their feet, the family keeps digging up more puzzling details and compelling everyone to wonder why the evidence was overlooked in the first place.

Now, don’t get us wrong; we’re all for people protecting themselves, but this tale seems more like a badly written movie script than reality. A deeper look into what really happened involves asking whether there was truly a thorough investigation from the get-go, or whether it was more of a cover-up. In the end, no family should have to pursue their own investigation to find justice for their loved one. So, we watch and wait while the family continues their relentless quest for accountability. One thing’s for sure – somebody needs to adjust their ‘self-defense’ definition in the South Carolina handbook because this one doesn’t look like it’s passing the common-sense test.
