GOP Rep: US Strikes on Iran Could Boost Peace Talks

In a world where geopolitics is as predictable as a new season of unscripted reality TV, West Virginia’s Republican Congressman Riley Moore takes center stage. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Moore isn’t shy about sharing his views on the latest tension involving Iran. According to him, it looks like China or Russia may have played a part in targeting sensitive locations in Jordan, and Moore is all about getting to the bottom of this tangled web, especially concerning those alliances. What more could you expect with China around, a country he considers an unfriendly neighbor bent on making mischief?

Between whisperings of election interference and a grand heist of 200 million voter files, Moore paints China as the all-too-familiar villain in our global narrative. To Moore, it makes perfect sense to pull student visas from China; after all, why teach your enemies how to defeat you? It’s like giving a catapult operator a lesson in wall building. In Moore’s eyes, tariffs and industrial pullbacks are just some of the tools needed to keep such adversaries in check. But where do we go from here? That’s the million-dollar question.

With many military members hailing from his home state of West Virginia, Moore’s circumspection about deploying ground troops to Iran is understandable. He seems to think that the current air campaign provides enough leverage to bring Iran to the negotiating table, assuming their love for political drama doesn’t get in the way. It’s the classic dance of “escalate to deescalate,” though whether Iran will join this particular waltz remains to be seen. Meanwhile, Moore stands firm in his conviction that a pressure campaign will eventually outmaneuver the historically disingenuous and strategically elusive Iranian leadership.

Joey Jones, a Marine Corps veteran, threw his thoughts into the ring, suggesting a full diplomatic withdrawal to spook Iran into serious negotiation. The strategy seems simple: be so fiercely consistent that it leaves Iran in a sweat, questioning whether their stall tactics are worth the cost. Moore echoes this sentiment, reminiscing about the air-only campaigns of the 90s that somehow forced foes to the table back then. History might not exactly repeat, but it certainly likes to copycat when it can.

The Congressman remains hopeful that these pressure tactics will work their magic, much like they did back in the Balkans. Nobody wants war — at least not if you ask Moore. He’s certainly no fan, and he pushes for a diplomatic resolution before Iran potentially achieves nuclear breakout capabilities. This all leads back to the slippery slopes of military escalation and the hope of a peaceful alternative, one that fits snugly into a pattern all too familiar yet uniquely challenging in today’s treacherous geopolitical landscape.
