Liberal politicians keep pushing for more gun control laws, but they refuse to face the truth. There are now over 500 million civilian-owned firearms in America, with 107 million law-abiding adults owning at least one gun. That’s nearly one in three Americans who have chosen to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
The numbers prove that gun control is a complete fantasy. Even if politicians banned every single gun sale tomorrow, criminals would still have access to hundreds of millions of weapons already in circulation. Bad guys don’t follow laws, and they certainly won’t line up to turn in their guns just because some politician in Washington tells them to.
Meanwhile, 43 percent of American households have at least one firearm for protection. These are good people who want to defend their families and property from the criminals that Democrats refuse to prosecute. Gun ownership among women has skyrocketed by 177 percent since 1993 because they know the police can’t always be there when danger strikes.
Republicans understand this reality, which is why 45 percent of GOP voters own guns compared to just 20 percent of Democrats. Conservative Americans live in the real world where criminals prey on defenseless victims. We know that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
Instead of wasting time on useless gun control schemes, we should be investing in real security measures. Schools need armed guards and metal detectors, not more gun-free zone signs that criminals ignore. Churches and public venues should have trained security personnel ready to respond to threats immediately.
The left wants to disarm innocent Americans while letting violent criminals run wild in our streets. They release repeat offenders without bail and then act surprised when crime goes up. This backwards approach puts law-abiding citizens in more danger, not less.
Smart security measures work because they actually stop threats before people get hurt. Trained security guards can identify suspicious behavior and respond within seconds. Compare that to waiting 10 minutes for police to arrive after shots have already been fired.
America needs leaders who will protect our constitutional rights while keeping our communities safe. That means more security, better mental health resources, and tougher prosecution of criminals who use guns illegally. Gun control has never worked and never will, but real security solutions can save lives right now.
