Gutfeld Dishes on Liberal Whining After Trump’s Victory

As the headline-hungry world turns, so do the antics of politicians and celebrities. It’s a field day when Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seems almost delighted over a high school yearbook photo revealing her suburban upbringing. Apparently, AOC confirmed she attended high school, as if that was ever in question. It’s nice to know that even in the political realm, the simpler accomplishments, like a well-documented secondary education, warrant celebration amid applause from the peanut gallery. Ah, the low bar of expectation has never been lower or more amusing.

Meanwhile, the usually buzzing Hollywood scene churned out another expected success with a plush box office revenue from the latest flick, proving once again that the industry will make a movie about pretty much anything—yes, even a button on a keyboard. The filmmakers might be trying desperately to fill the void left by original ideas. So while the world debates real issues, the masses flock to see what might as well be a two-hour homage to their computer keyboards. Maybe soon there will be an arthouse film dedicated to the spacebar.

The international scene had its dose of high-profile glamor with a lavish wedding celebration attended by the who’s who of the celebrity circuit. When Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez tied the knot in Venice, he reportedly declared, “I now pronounce you paper and plastic,” perhaps suggesting a union more engineered than romantic. This event doubles as the largest gathering of Hollywood figures on the verge of deserving their own zip code. One thing’s for sure, the wedding was an awe-inspiring concentration of Botox, fillers, and reality TV royalty.

Back on domestic issues, the political landscape has recently been defined by plenty of fanfare surrounding policy decisions and judicial dissent. Amy Coney Barrett’s criticism of Ketanji Brown Jackson’s dissent in a citizenship case is already infamous among legal buffs. Over two centuries of precedent tossed around like a frisbee in the park, except with weightier repercussions. For those watching the court as though it were the latest dramedy series, this saga will surely have more plot twists than a mistaken identity sitcom.

Finally, as the world keeps spinning, Donald Trump is at it again, galvanizing support while critics sharpen words, flashier than a birthday party magic trick. But like any illusion, audiences often anticipate the outcome well before the curtain falls. His endeavors seem part Houdini, part carnival bark, yet consistently baffling to the establishment. Whether he’s entrenching trade wars or orchestrating geopolitical peace deals, the former president thrives on unpredictability—and yet, for all his boosters and detractors, that’s almost the only predictable part of the Trump show.

There’s a certain charm to the spectacle, a loud if slightly overdone display of the big stage politics America knows too well. For better or worse, it’s a ride that keeps attention hooked, even if half the viewers are still skeptical about where it’s heading. Like it or not, politics and pop culture continue their intoxicating dance, leaving some of us to wonder how far we’ll all have soared—barbed wit and all—before we remember to check if the emperor is actually wearing any clothes.
