Harris and Newsom Take the Crown as This Week’s Donkeys of the Week

As the week comes to a close, another round of ridiculous antics has emerged from the Democratic Party, and folks, it’s as entertaining as it is eye-rolling. The buzz around “Donkey of the Week” has returned, offering a humorous yet critical look at the Democratic contenders vying for this monumental title. The political circus appears to be thriving, serving up quite the spectacle for those willing to tune in.

First on the chopping block is none other than Vice President Kamala Harris. In what seems to be a never-ending quest to convince the American public of her “electability,” Harris gave a speech that sounded more like a broken record than a legitimate campaign pitch. With a career centered on service, Harris has yet to firmly decide what her future holds beyond her current role. This leaves many wondering if her re-election efforts are as compelling as a lukewarm cup of coffee. Harris has a knack for making confusing statements—she could perhaps open a school for speechwriting, where the motto would be “Say a lot, but mean very little.”

Next up is California Governor Gavin Newsom, who’s painting a rather precarious picture of his upbringing. He recently waxed poetic about his rough childhood, painting a vivid scene that sounds more like a setup for a sitcom than a genuine struggle. With references to self-reliance and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, one can’t help but chuckle at the absurdity. Perhaps he should consider transitioning from politics to a career in storytelling, as he could captivate children’s imaginations with tales of his supposed adventures while munching on Wonder Bread. His authenticity—or lack thereof—has become a topic of laughter amongst own party members and outside observers alike.

Then there’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who continues to struggle with convincing everyday Americans that her support for certain controversial figures is nothing out of the ordinary. She presents her arguments as sound, but to the average Joe, they often come off as downright outrageous. AOC has a penchant for claiming that those who disagree with her are akin to the “crazy ones,” a notion that leaves many scratching their heads. It seems her party is in a constant battle between redefining what is considered sane and what is, well, just off the wall.

Last but certainly not least is a critique of the Democratic leadership or lack thereof. It seems even members of the party are beginning to recognize that they might just be lacking the strong leaders needed in these trying times. This observation has sparked debates about whether the current leadership is fully equipped to drive the party in a direction that resonates with the majority. Calls for connections and meaningful discussions are growing louder as rank-and-file Democrats express their frustrations.

As the panel of “Donkey of the Week” deliberates, it’s clear that the choices are more plentiful than expected. Harris, Newsom, AOC, and the political dynamics of Democratic leadership have all added their own flair to the week’s drama. One thing is certain—the circus is alive and well, and we can only sit back and watch the spectacle unfold as the next election cycle approaches. Despite the seriousness of politics, it’s hard not to chuckle at the absurdity of it all. It appears the race to the bottom is still a lively competition!
