In a dramatic turn of events, Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan has his hands full, as he delves headfirst into the deep and murky waters of political fundraising. The chair of the House Judiciary Committee is investigating ActBlue, a massive fundraising machine for the Democrat party, after a curious and concerning trend emerged during recent depositions. Four former ActBlue employees, who exited the organization right after the 2024 election—one even got the boot—took the Fifth Amendment a whopping 146 times. That’s an impressive, if not troubling, record of silence that seems to speak volumes about what’s brewing inside the organization.
Jordan’s eyebrows raised higher than a cat on a hot tin roof when he learned that these former employees exercised their right to silence numerous times during questioning. It raises the question: what are they hiding? According to Jordan, this situation underscores broader worries regarding potential fraud and the ease with which money could be funneled into the coffers of Democratic candidates. He mentioned that some congressional candidates, who may not have had a name in the political arena prior to this, were managing to rake in $2 to $3 million a quarter with the help of ActBlue. It all sounds a bit too good to be true, doesn’t it?
The investigations are gearing up to gain some serious traction. Jordan highlighted that one of the key pieces of new information is a report from ActBlue’s law firm suggesting that their CEO may have misrepresented facts during congressional inquiries. Now, that’s a fancy way of saying someone might have pulled a fast one on Congress—definitely not the kind of headlines you want to be associated with. Next week, that CEO will find themselves in the hot seat before Congress, and it’s anyone’s guess how that will unfold.
Moving westward, Jordan’s committee has also turned its attention to certain sanctuary cities on the West Coast, specifically San Francisco and San Diego. The local sheriffs have seemingly made a mockery of cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. For instance, a sheriff in San Francisco admitted to honoring just one out of every thousand requests from ICE. That’s like passing out the keys to the candy store without keeping an eye on the little ones! Sanctuary jurisdictions, as it stands, create a complicated web where local law enforcement is discouraged from collaborating with federal authorities, leading to unfortunate outcomes when dangerous criminals are released back into the community.
These sanctuary policies are part of a broader four-step plan that Jordan believes Democrats are orchestrating. First, open the borders wide and let millions of illegal migrants flood in. Next, create sanctuary cities that make it hard to remove these individuals when they commit crimes. The third step is to starve funding for the agencies responsible for deportation. To cap it all off, certain prosecutors seem to cater to illegal migrants by offering lighter sentences, all in an effort to avoid deportation consequences. Indeed, this convoluted dance raises alarms about public safety while the left appears to waltz around the actual problems at hand.
With a third of the country living under these sanctuary policies, citizens are right to raise their eyebrows and clench their fists at the idea of criminals being put back on the streets. Real lives, like that of Stephanie Miner, a tragic victim of an illegal immigrant who should have been deported, are collateral damage in this misguided political strategy. In a society that values truth and justice, the hope is that such investigations will pull back the curtain and expose any malfeasance lurking in the shadows. Because at the end of the day, for every politician and every policy, accountability is key—something that, if lost, will leave many feeling like they’re walking a tightrope in an increasingly unstable world.
