A beautiful young woman who loved America is dead because our justice system failed her. Iryna Zarutska came here from war-torn Ukraine seeking the American dream. Instead, she found a nightmare on a Charlotte train where career criminal Decarlos Brown stabbed her to death. The 23-year-old refugee died alone while riding public transit that should have been safe.
Now the liberal media wants to blame innocent bystanders who witnessed this horror. These armchair critics have never faced a knife-wielding maniac on a moving train. It takes seconds for an attack like this to happen, and regular people freeze when confronted with sudden violence. Blaming scared passengers instead of the real villains shows how backwards our priorities have become.
The real villain here is a broken system that kept releasing this dangerous criminal back onto our streets. Brown had multiple arrests for robbery, breaking and entering, and assault. He was homeless with serious mental health problems, yet somehow he was free to terrorize innocent people. This is what happens when bleeding heart policies put criminals first and victims last.
Where was the security on this train when Iryna needed protection. The transit authority admits they had no officers on board during the attack. Their security team just patrols around instead of actually protecting riders. This hands-off approach to public safety is getting people killed.
Thank God President Trump immediately called for the death penalty in this case. Brown deserves nothing less than the ultimate punishment for his evil act. Attorney General Pamela Bondi is also pushing for federal prosecution and maximum penalties. Finally we have leaders who put justice for victims ahead of sympathy for killers.
Iryna Zarutska embodied everything great about America and legal immigration. She learned English quickly, found work, and had dreams of becoming a veterinary assistant. Her family says she loved this country so much they will bury her here instead of Ukraine. She represents the kind of immigrant who makes America stronger.
Democrat Mayor Vi Lyles wants to blame everyone except the policies that created this mess. She points fingers at courts and magistrates while ignoring the progressive prosecutors who go easy on repeat offenders. Her response is typical liberal deflection instead of taking responsibility for failed leadership.
This tragedy could have been prevented if we had tough-on-crime policies and proper security measures. Iryna Zarutska should be alive today, working toward her dreams instead of lying in a grave. We owe it to her memory to stop coddling criminals and start protecting innocent Americans who just want to live their lives in peace.
