Kaepernick’s NFL Blame Tour Backfires, Reality Hits Hard

The world of professional sports, particularly in the NFL, often highlights players and their ability to voice frustrations. Recently, the ongoing saga surrounding Colin Kaepernick and his attempts to reintegrate into the league has sparked debate, but it is time to cut through the noise and look at the reality of the situation. The truth is simple: Kaepernick does not possess the talent needed to earn a spot in the league, and the emphasis on race is clouding the facts.

Kaepernick’s protest during the national anthem sparked a movement, but it also led to his decline as a starting quarterback. Let’s face it; he was not on top of his game when he opted out of his contract. Instead of focusing on personal responsibility and improvement, he chose to play the victim. Many players, particularly Black quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Dak Prescott, have found incredible success within the league, largely because they embraced the system that enabled them to build wealth and achieve greatness. These players recognize the opportunities available to them and capitalize on them, rather than politicizing what should be a game.

Some former players imply that Kaepernick’s grievances stem from systemic racism in the NFL. However, anyone who takes a closer look knows that the majority of NFL players are Black and that they earn substantial salaries. If the league was truly discriminatory, how can we explain the incredible contracts signed by Black quarterbacks and the support they receive from their coaches? In fact, the owners of NFL teams recognize talent, and that’s what drives decisions—not the political agenda pushed by some activists.

The idea that the league is somehow “colluding” against Kaepernick is preposterous. Coaches and team executives weigh numerous factors when deciding on player contracts. It is hardly a surprise when a player who causes disruption or garners negative attention struggles to find a place on a team. Teams are looking for individuals who can contribute positively both on and off the field. For every Kaepernick, there are countless players who have made a name for themselves by staying out of controversy and simply playing the game.

It seems that Kaepernick and others fail to understand the nature of the NFL. This is a business, driven by profits and performance. Players who make a name for themselves and help their teams win games receive significant financial rewards and attention. But when your skillset is overshadowed by your off-field antics and lack of productivity, the door closes quickly. Instead of pushing for unity and team cohesion, Kaepernick’s rhetoric only fuels division. There’s no need to call for collective action against the owners while simultaneously disregarding the hard work and dedication required to succeed as a player.

Ultimately, Kaepernick’s approach has led to his exclusion from the NFL, but this is more about performance than protest. The players in this league are not entitled to positions based on their activism; they earn their spots by demonstrating skill, dedication, and a commitment to the game. Instead of promoting an agenda of grievance, it would be more productive for players to focus on building families, wealth, and a positive legacy in sports. The NFL provides an opportunity for greatness if only players can recognize it and make the best of it rather than chase a narrative that only serves to foster division and resentment.
