Yet, instead of fulfilling her dreams, she found herself the victim of a heinous crime that has left many of us questioning the state of public safety in America.
The suspect, Decarlos Brown Jr., has been identified as a repeat offender, having been in and out of jail more times than anyone could reasonably count. This fact alone poses a critical question: How is it that someone with a history of violent behavior is allowed back onto the streets to wreak havoc once again? Perhaps it’s time we take a long, hard look at the revolving door that passes for a justice system in some of our cities. One where criminals seem to get more chances for reform than their victims get chances to live their lives.

That’s right, folks, it seems that it takes a federal statute to act as a guardian for everyday people just trying to get to and from work.
