In a news story that’s swirling around the internet faster than a Minnesota blizzard, Minneapolis has once again become ground zero for controversy. This time, however, the script has been flipped. Instead of the typical narrative we’re used to hearing about protests involving Black Lives Matter and racial tensions, it’s a black ICE agent who is making headlines. Why, you ask? Because he dared to show up for work and found himself being pelted with snowballs by so-called progressive protesters who also hurled racial slurs his way. Yes, you read that right. Apparently, in the eyes of some leftists, supporting law enforcement is only acceptable when it suits their agenda.
Imagine the scene: a black ICE agent just trying to do his job when suddenly, he’s under siege. And not from the usual suspects, but from his would-be allies in the fight for racial justice. It’s like watching Goliath attack David with slushy missiles and very ugly words. Here we have white liberals, self-proclaimed champions of racial equality, showing their true colors in a display of hypocrisy that would make even the most hardened political cynic gasp. The very group that helped elevate the Black Lives Matter movement is now turning on a black man in uniform. The irony is as thick as a snowdrift.
One particularly vocal protester even had the audacity to ramp up the tension by labeling the ICE agent with one of the nastiest racial epitaphs in the book. This spectacle was graciously live-streamed for all the world to see, adding fuel to the ever-growing bonfire of liberal hypocrisy. What happened to the notion of respecting all individuals, regardless of their occupation, race, or which law they enforce? It seems that respect is a one-way street on the left, given only if it advances their power or agenda.
This video has sparked a lot of laughs amongst conservative circles for its sheer absurdity. The same group accusing others of being in bed with the Klan are here caught acting like the very monsters they condemn. It’s almost like watching an old slapstick comedy, except with a far more serious underlying message: how easily the left eats its own when they stray from the narrative. The accusations of racism and bigotry are no longer exclusively aimed at conservatives; the left is now hoisted by its own petard.
Meanwhile, back in San Francisco, reactions to a new Billboard praising ICE as the “Defensive Player of the Year” show just how polarized we are as a society. To some, it’s a beacon of support for law enforcement. To others, it might as well be a lit match tossed onto an oil spill, provoking fear and disgust. But one thing’s for sure, the billboard gives the lie to the notion that criticism of ICE is universally condoned. Perhaps it’s time for the left to take a long, hard look in the mirror, if only to see which side of their face they’re showing the world today.
