New NYC Statue Sparks Outrage as Critics Slam Woke Politics in Art

New York City’s latest woke monument is causing chaos in Times Square. A 12-foot bronze statue of a plus-size Black woman now towers over tourists, her hands on hips and braided hair frozen in a lifeless stare. Critics say it looks like a bloated cartoon character, not a tribute to American values.

The statue, called “Grounded in the Stars,” was built by Thomas J. Price, an artist obsessed with race politics. He claims it challenges “anti-Blackness” and promotes “cultural diversity.” But regular folks see it as another forced lecture from leftist elites pushing divisive identity politics.

It’s planted right next to statues of real American heroes like Father Francis Duffy, a World War I chaplain. Those monuments honor courage and sacrifice. This new eyesore? It screams “agenda,” celebrating victimhood instead of unity. The contrast couldn’t be more jarring – or intentional.

Social media exploded with mockery. Conservatives compared the statue’s scowling face to New York’s far-left Attorney General Letitia James. Memes joke it’s a shrine to political correctness, with one user writing: “They turned whining into art.” Even tourists seem confused, snapping pics while shaking their heads.

The statue’s massive size and sloppy design make it a laughingstock. Its casual clothes and awkward pose clash with Times Square’s energy. Instead of inspiring pride, it feels like a middle finger to hardworking Americans tired of being preached at.

Taxpayers deserve answers. How much money got wasted on this vanity project? Price’s last gig was bashing “white supremacy” in London. Now he’s using our city as a stage for his radical slogans. When did art become a tool for shaming America?

The statue’s only temporary – thank goodness. But its message lingers: replace history with hype, heroes with hashtags. New York used to celebrate greatness. Now it peddles grievance propaganda to tourists expecting the real deal.

Real art uplifts. This statue divides. It’s time to reject the woke circus and restore monuments that unite us – not ones that pit Americans against each other. Let’s save the grand gestures for real heroes, not political stunts.
