Socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani has won the Democratic primary and is now the party’s nominee for mayor. This radical leftist wants to turn NYC into a communist experiment that will drive out every business and hardworking family.
Mamdani calls himself a “democratic socialist” but his policies are straight out of the Marxist playbook. He wants the government to run grocery stores, freeze rent prices, and raise the minimum wage to an insane $30 per hour. The man literally said “I don’t think we should have billionaires” because he hates success and wants to punish anyone who achieves the American Dream.
His plan to build 200,000 government-controlled housing units sounds exactly like the failed public housing projects that destroyed communities for decades. Mamdani wants to create a “Social Housing Development Agency” that would put bureaucrats in charge of where people live. This is how communist countries control their people and it has no place in America.
The business community is already panicking about what Mamdani’s election would mean for New York. CEOs and job creators are making plans to flee to states like Texas and Florida where they won’t be punished for success. When businesses leave, they take good-paying jobs with them and leave behind only welfare dependency.
Mamdani’s grocery store scheme shows how out of touch he really is with basic economics. He wants the city to compete with private businesses even though grocery stores already operate on tiny profit margins of just 1-2 percent. This socialist nonsense will kill competition and give government bureaucrats control over what food families can buy.
The rent control and tax hikes he’s promising will make the housing crisis even worse. Every time government tries to control prices, it creates shortages and drives up costs for everyone else. His plan to tax millionaires at higher rates will just chase wealth creators out of the city and leave working families to pay the bill.
Even former Mayor Bill de Blasio is cheering for this radical because he sees Mamdani as the perfect weapon against President Trump’s policies. When de Blasio likes your ideas, you know you’re on the wrong side of freedom and prosperity. This is exactly the kind of far-left extremism that voters rejected nationwide.
New Yorkers have a choice between preserving what made their city great or letting socialists turn it into another failed experiment. If Mamdani wins, New York will become a warning to the rest of America about what happens when you let the radical left take control. The stakes couldn’t be higher for the future of American capitalism and freedom.
