The replacement of a POW/MIA banner with a Pride flag has caused outrage in a Buffalo suburb. After discovering that the POW/MIA banner at the Hamburg town hall in New York had been removed and replaced with a Pride flag, residents expressed dismay on social media. The head of the Hamburg Coalition for Equity and Inclusion stated that it was a positive reflection of the diversity of the town and the commencement of Pride month. Although the town board explained that the POW/MIA flag had been damaged and was due for replacement, the discontent continued. In a bizarre incident, an outraged veteran allegedly slapped the town supervisor, who has since confirmed that the POW/MIA flag has been reinstated.
