Attorney General Pam Bondi just made a huge mistake that has conservatives across America shaking their heads. During a podcast interview, she promised the Justice Department would “absolutely target” anyone who engages in “hate speech.” This is exactly the kind of big government overreach that we fought against for years.
Bondi completely missed the mark on basic constitutional law. The First Amendment protects all speech, even speech we find disgusting or offensive. There is no such thing as “hate speech” under American law, and every patriotic American should know this fundamental truth.
The most embarrassing part is that Charlie Kirk himself understood this perfectly. Before his tragic death, Kirk posted on social media that “hate speech does not exist legally in America” and that all speech is protected by the First Amendment. Even the victim Bondi claims to be defending knew better than she does.
Conservative heroes like Brit Hume and Ted Cruz had to step up and correct the Attorney General. They reminded her that the Constitution doesn’t have exceptions for speech that hurts people’s feelings. This is basic civics that every government official should understand before taking office.
Bondi tried to walk back her comments by claiming she only meant threats of violence. But that’s not what she said originally, and the damage was already done. She sounded exactly like the liberal Democrats we’ve been fighting against for decades.
Megyn Kelly called this the “dumbest thing you can say as AG,” and she’s absolutely right. When your own side has to correct you on basic constitutional principles, you’ve failed as a conservative leader. This is not what we voted for when we supported President Trump’s team.
The liberal media is already using Bondi’s words against the conservative movement. They’re painting all Republicans as enemies of free speech based on one person’s terrible mistake. This gives ammunition to the very people who want to destroy our constitutional rights.
Bondi needs to issue a full apology and promise to defend every American’s right to speak freely. If she can’t do that, she has no business leading the Justice Department. Real conservatives defend the Constitution, even when the speech makes us uncomfortable.
