Parents Who Play Friends Are Raising a Generation of Undisciplined Kids

Kids today are growing up without respect or responsibility, and the blame falls squarely on weak parenting. Parents trying to be “cool friends” instead of authority figures are raising a generation of entitled, undisciplined kids. The results are everywhere: spoiled behavior, failing schools, and kids who can’t handle real life.

Permissive parenting leaves children without self-control. These kids never hear “no” or learn to follow rules. They throw tantrums when things don’t go their way, expecting the world to cater to them. Without boundaries, they grow up thinking they can do whatever they want—consequences be damned.

Social skills are collapsing under this approach. Kids raised without structure don’t know how to share, compromise, or handle disagreements. They bulldoze through relationships, ignoring others’ feelings. Real friendships require give-and-take, but these children only know how to take.

Classrooms are chaos because permissive parenting breeds disrespect. Teachers can’t teach when students won’t listen or complete assignments. Kids used to getting their way at home see no reason to try in school. Why study when Mom and Dad don’t care if you fail?

Delinquency and rebellion are on the rise. Teens without moral guidance experiment with drugs, alcohol, and risky behaviors. They’ve never been taught right from wrong, so they push limits wherever they can. Jail cells and rehab centers are filling with kids who never faced consequences at home.

Emotional meltdowns are routine for these fragile young minds. Sheltered from hardship, they crumble at the slightest challenge. Jobs, relationships, and adult responsibilities will overwhelm them. Life doesn’t care about your feelings—but their parents never let them learn that.

Bad habits are destroying their health. Unlimited screen time, junk food binges, and no bedtime rules set them up for obesity and addiction. Permissive parents think they’re being kind, but they’re handing their kids a lifetime of health problems.

It’s time for parents to grow spines. Loving your child means teaching discipline, respect, and responsibility. Strong families build strong nations—and this generation desperately needs parents who lead, not coddle. The future depends on adults willing to be parents, not pals.
