In our once great cities like Chicago and Washington, D.C., it’s a sad state of affairs when you can practically set your watch to the weekend violence. It seems like there’s a tragic script playing out every week, a script that the powers in charge can’t seem to change. The liberal leadership is more focused on catchy slogans about defunding and reimagining than actually lifting a finger to save lives. It’s as if the chaos is part of their branding strategy, a bizarre badge of honor to let things fall apart while people suffer for their utopian ideals gone awry.
What’s baffling is how they react to someone like Donald Trump, who offers help to restore law and order. It’s almost as if the idea of a safer city is offensive to them. The Democratic Party, as it stands, seems entirely detached from the concerns of regular folks. It’s not so much a political party anymore but an entity that seems to idolize anarchy over safety, protecting criminals instead of the vulnerable. If there were a manual on how to turn a city into a cautionary tale, they’d be making millions teaching it.
Consider Washington, D.C., a city that was once as dangerous as a movie set in the wild west. Residents were living in fear, avoiding certain areas like a test they didn’t study for. But with Trump’s intervention, there was a palpable change. Law enforcement actually did what it was supposed to do—enforce laws—and, lo and behold, people aren’t being mugged on their way to dinner anymore. It’s as if someone reminded them that people can’t pursue happiness if they’re too busy dodging bullets.
It’s the simplest notion, really—law and order precede liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Who would have thought it necessary to remind anyone of that? The Democrats seem to have forgotten that liberty doesn’t thrive in chaos. Their inability or refusal to see how their policies lead to lawlessness is as stunning as it is tragic. And yet, when Trump steps in and things start to improve, you’d expect gratitude, but apparently, that’s too much to ask. Instead, they act as though his efforts to restore decency and safety are some sort of affront to their values.
In essence, by clinging to their failed policies and ignoring the cries for help from their citizens, the Democrats seem set on letting the ship sink rather than allowing someone they dislike to captain it. Meanwhile, people in these beleaguered cities just want to go about their lives without fearing for their safety at every corner. They deserve better leadership, not excuses and misplaced priorities.
