The ongoing saga of Antifa continues to unfold as President Trump recently held a roundtable discussion highlighting the group’s activities. These discussions reaffirmed Antifa’s status as a domestic terrorist organization, a label they’ve gleefully earned over time. In attendance were journalists and other individuals who have witnessed firsthand the chaos and violence instigated by Antifa, particularly during the not-so-affectionately dubbed “Summer of Love” in Portland. It seems, in these once-peaceful potluck loving communities, casseroles have been replaced with chaos.
One might wonder where the summer of love went wrong. Perhaps it was hijacked by the very individuals claiming to stand for justice while they turned peaceful protests into all-night street brawls. During a recent appearance on CNN, Stephen Miller, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Homeland Security Advisor, had a lively exchange where he dismantled the laughable defense of these anarchists. Of course, CNN could be renamed the Comedy News Network for how seriously (or not) they address these threats. It seems holding violent protesters accountable for their actions is simply too much to ask.
The concerns being shrugged off by certain news networks are not trivial. Reports reveal instances where ICE officers face night after night of aggressive confrontations and attempts to topple their vehicles. A situation like this isn’t just a friendly game of tug-of-war; it’s an outright assault with dangerous implications. Antifa’s efforts to disrupt the enforcement of immigration laws by targeting ICE agents could be straight out of a manual on domestic terrorism, showcasing the very definition of using violence to impede governmental functions.
Meanwhile, over in California and Illinois, we witness theater of a different kind. California’s retaliatory tactics stretch beyond confusing laws about face masks to a curious reluctance to provide adequate protection to local authorities. In Illinois, Governor J.B. Pritzker’s playbook involves ignoring the bloodbath on the streets of Chicago while pointing a finger at President Trump for trying to bring stability to the chaos. Chicago, it would appear, is in free-fall, echoing the violent elements usually seen in less stable parts of the world, not a major American city.
The Democratic leadership’s less-than-stellar record is hard to ignore. Law and order policies, once nearly taken for granted in America’s cities, are now jeopardized by an ideological battle that favors criminal elements over law-abiding citizens. In the era of “defund the police,” a catchy slogan made more for Twitter trending than practical governance, the cost is paid in blood and broken communities. Let’s face it, sending a social worker into a gunfight might make a hilarious sketch on a late-night comedy show, but it’s hardly a viable solution for cities plagued by violence.
In the end, what President Trump proposes is not just law and order but simply common sense. It’s about the safety of citizens, allowing them to dine out, stroll down boulevards, and visit local monuments without fear. If Democrats wish to fight for the wrong side of this narrative, let them. But at some point, their constituents might wonder why peace, safety, and security seem more like pipe dreams rather than a standard of living in America, the land purportedly of the free and the home of the brave.
