Texas Democrats have once again shown their true colors by running away when they don’t get their way. These cowards fled to Illinois last week to hide from a simple vote on redistricting maps. They claim they’re fighting for democracy while literally refusing to do their jobs.
The Democrats broke quorum to stop Republicans from redrawing congressional maps that would add five GOP seats. President Trump backs this redistricting plan because it reflects how Texans actually vote. But instead of debating like adults, Democrats packed their bags and ran to Chicago.
Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas GOP are not playing games anymore. They’re using every legal tool to drag these runaway lawmakers back to do their jobs. Attorney General Ken Paxton is working with courts to force them home where they belong.
The hotel where these Democrats are hiding has been hit with bomb threats twice in two days. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker blames conservative podcasters for the threats. This shows how the left always tries to silence free speech when things don’t go their way.
What makes this even more disgusting is how hypocritical Democrats are being. They gerrymander maps all the time in states like New York and California. But when Republicans do the same thing legally in Texas, suddenly it’s the end of democracy.
These Texas Democrats are being treated like heroes by the liberal media and Chicago politicians. They’re staying in fancy hotels while hardworking Texans wonder why their elected officials abandoned them. This is exactly the kind of elite behavior that regular Americans are sick of.
The truth is that Republicans control Texas because Texans vote Republican. No amount of running away will change that basic fact. These maps simply reflect the will of Texas voters who chose conservative leadership.
Democrats always talk about following the rules and respecting elections until they lose. Then they throw tantrums and refuse to show up for work. Texas Republicans should keep fighting until every last one of these quitters comes home to face the music.
