Traditional Values Triumph: A Return to Basics Begins

The American dream still glows brightly, but not for everyone. Picture this: a hardworking UPS employee, likely with Italian roots, sings his heart out in the most American fashion. He’s living his dream in a country that’s essentially a giant amusement park of opportunity and freedom. He appreciates the land and the life that has welcomed him, while many entrenched within our borders seem disinterested in engaging with this vibrant American culture.

Our forefathers embraced immigrants from societies that valued trust, Christianity, and hard work. These were people that cherished the chances they were given, harmonizing with our American traditions. This isn’t the story for everyone unfortunately. There’s a concerning narrative of a different kind of immigration that misses the mark on appreciating the values we hold dear. People from less fortunate parts of the world sometimes bring the very struggles they fled from, failing to honor the prosperity they’ve entered into.

Many, like our UPS worker, are getting a slice of the American pie, thriving on the hard-earned paychecks despite the tax pain we all lament. But, a stark contrast emerges when it comes to welcoming those who don’t respect this abundance. Rather than maintaining the harmonious culture, a fraction of immigrants seem keen to unravel it. It’s a worry that leaves many wondering why any country would welcome individuals who harbor little respect for their new home.

There’s a case to be made for re-evaluating which immigrants are given the golden ticket to the American dream. The UPS singer reflected personal success within a culture based on hard work and Christian values. Individuals from high-trust backgrounds or those sharing certain cultural values, seem more inclined to contribute positively to society. Bringing in more immigrants like him could reinforce the nation’s foundation rather than erode it.

For some, zero immigration might sound like an extreme stance, but it’s only logical if the aim is to protect what makes America great. Valuing those immigrants who embody American principles could be the path forward. And while we’re at it, perhaps there’s a list of those who might benefit from experiencing the value of life elsewhere, as a reminiscent exchange of sorts. After all, maintaining a vibrant nation requires both appreciation and contribution from those who call it home.
