A horrific attack struck at the heart of American faith and family values Wednesday morning in Minneapolis. A gunman opened fire on innocent children during Catholic Mass at Annunciation Church and School, killing two young kids and wounding 17 others. An 8-year-old and 10-year-old lost their lives while sitting peacefully in church pews. The coward also wounded 14 other children before taking his own life.
This evil attack happened during a special Mass celebrating the start of the new school year. Families gathered in their house of worship, seeking God’s blessing for their children’s education. Instead, they witnessed pure evil as the shooter fired a rifle through church windows at defenseless kids. The gunman also carried a shotgun and pistol in his planned assault on faith.
Police say the shooter was in his twenties with no major criminal record. He deliberately targeted children and families at worship in what should be America’s safest spaces. This wasn’t random violence but a calculated attack on everything decent Americans hold dear.
The brave men and women of law enforcement rushed to the scene within minutes. Two children remain in critical condition fighting for their lives. Parents faced every family’s worst nightmare as they waited to learn if their children were safe.
This tragedy strikes at the foundation of our Christian nation. Houses of worship should be sanctuaries where families can gather without fear. When evil targets our children at prayer, it attacks the very soul of America.
The left will predictably use this horror to push their gun control agenda. But criminals and madmen don’t follow laws no matter how many politicians write. Good Americans with guns protect our churches and schools every day across this great nation.
Our prayers go out to these hurting families who lost their precious children. The community of faith will rally around them in their darkest hour. This is what real Americans do when evil strikes our neighbors.
We must never let attacks on faith and family break our spirit as Americans. Evil may strike, but it will never defeat the righteous heart of this nation. God bless these families and God bless America.
