As the year comes to a close, President Trump once again demonstrates that he doesn’t know the meaning of the phrase “taking a day off.” While most of us were busy decking the halls or enjoying a yuletide nap, the Commander-in-Chief was busy sending a rather explosive message to ISIS terrorists in Nigeria. His Christmas gift to the world? A well-placed strike that rang louder than a jingle bell to remind terrorists that they shouldn’t get too comfortable. Turns out, when President Trump says he’s going to do something, he means it.
The recent headline-grabbing attack made it clear that President Trump takes the persecution of Christians in Nigeria seriously. For months, Nigeria has been plagued by attacks, particularly on Christian communities, drawing little more than a collective shrug from the usual international watchdogs. Somehow a pop superstar, Nicki Minaj, seemed to raise more alarm than organizations like the United Nations. Meanwhile, the President decided that he’d had enough, choosing Christmas day to remind ISIS that they were indeed on the naughty list.
And of course, the merry band of critics were quick to chime in, with Congresswoman Madeleine Dean leading the chorus of disapproval. She argues that strikes like these distract from the season’s joy and commerce or that there should be more back-and-forth with Congress. But the President has his sights set on a bigger picture: protecting the innocent. Engaging Congress is like trying to untangle a string of Christmas lights. Nothing happens fast, and the result is often disappointing.
In the meantime, the left continues their relentless tirade against President Trump’s every move. They’re no doubt reaching for smelling salts as they bemoan the President’s lack of “proper consultation” before giving ISIS a much-deserved wake-up call. It’s ironic, of course, because these are the same folks who grumbled when they said he was going to isolate America. Yet here he is, making bold moves in foreign policy and standing up for persecuted Christians.
As the year transitions, all eyes are on the meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, reportedly crucial for a future Gaza deal. While the President multitasks on foreign affairs, the economy saw monster growth, inflation cools, and crime rates fall. As Christmas cheer fades, President Trump continues to stand firm in America’s interests, gifting strong messages to those who threaten peace—even if it means playing Santa with a surprising twist.
