Watching Democrats squirm as President Trump calmly called out the failures in Minneapolis should be a lesson for every hardworking American who still believes in accountability. For months the left has treated political correctness as a shield while whole swaths of taxpayer-funded programs were looted, and now the truth is spilling into the open for anyone willing to look. The president’s bluntness is the breath of fresh air this country needs after years of soft-on-crime, soft-on-fraud liberal leadership.
The Feeding Our Future scandal exposed a systemic rot: prosecutors say hundreds of millions were allegedly stolen from pandemic-era programs meant to feed children. This wasn’t a couple of isolated bad actors — federal filings show a sprawling network of shell companies and fake invoices that siphoned public dollars. Minnesotans deserve leaders who protect taxpayer money, not excuses and virtue-signaling.
Now the Treasury is stepping in to chase down the financial plumbing that let these schemes flourish, targeting money-service businesses and informal remittance channels that moved cash overseas. That intervention is long overdue and proves the problem is structural, not cultural posturing from the city hall crowd. If conservatives wanted proof that borderless compassion without enforcement invites corruption, this is it.
Of course the political class reacted predictably: Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey puffed up and declared he’s “proud” of the Somali community, casting any criticism as racism rather than admitting administrative failure. Comforting a voting bloc with platitudes while state programs are drained of funds is not leadership — it’s enabling. When your first instinct is to blame the messenger instead of fixing the leak, taxpayers pay the price.
President Trump’s blunt public posture — forcing the debate out of media spin rooms and into plain sight — has already pushed federal agencies to investigate possible international flows of stolen money, even if the links to foreign terror groups remain under review. Conservatives should celebrate enforcement, not cower at the politics of pointing out uncomfortable facts; demanding proof is sensible, demanding accountability is patriotic. The left’s reflex to weaponize diversity to dodge scrutiny only shows how hollow their moralizing often is.
America is on the line when corruption becomes ordinary and political correctness muzzles enforcement. Law-and-order means protecting programs that help kids and families, and that requires fearless oversight, not soft leadership that bows to optics. It’s time for Minnesota and every state to put pragmatism ahead of pandering, to fund investigators and close the loopholes so hardworking Americans stop footing the bill for fraud.
