Watching Piers Morgan’s face when a woke activist tried to lecture a real dwarf about what he should be called was a masterclass in how out of touch elite ideology has become with everyday Americans. This wasn’t just theater; it was a live demonstration of how the progressive class will happily trample the livelihoods of the vulnerable to score cultural points.
Leaked photos from Disney’s live action Snow White remake sparked the outrage, showing “magical creatures” in place of the seven dwarfs and prompting Morgan to call the decision “stinking woke hypocrisy.” The outrage was not about nostalgia; it was about real, paying roles being stripped away from people who already face limited opportunities in Hollywood.
Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl, a longtime dwarf performer, was furious for good reason — he pointed out that these are roles literally written for actors of his stature and that using average-height actors or CGI to erase those parts robs dwarf actors of work, exposure, and stunt and double jobs for others in their community. When Hollywood turns principle into pretext, actual humans lose paychecks and careers.
Meanwhile, liberal pundits and activists who celebrate identity-based casting in other contexts suddenly find new and convenient exceptions when it’s inconvenient for their narrative. That double standard — demanding authenticity in some cases while erasing it in others — betrays a condescending, performative “progressivism” that punishes the very people it claims to protect.
Conservatives should make common cause with the little guy here: defend real jobs, common sense casting, and a culture that rewards merit and fairness rather than ideology. Piers Morgan and Hornswoggle did what the mainstream media often will not — they put people before pieties and exposed the cruelty of woke theater.
