Billionaire Battle: Meet the Top 10 Richest People in the World

In September 2026, an exciting shuffle has taken place among the world’s wealthiest individuals, and as usual, Americans dominate the list of the top 10 richest people on the planet. It’s a billionaire bonanza, with fortunes fluctuating and fortunes growing faster than most can say “cha-ching!” This month, nine out of the top ten spots are taken by men from the good ol’ U.S. of A., and one luxurious Spaniard sneaks in, looking rather dapper.

Leading the pack as usual is none other than Elon Musk, that electric car-driving, Mars-dreaming innovator who keeps his title as the richest person in the world. While exact figures might have a mind of their own, Musk’s wealth is a staggering sight that keeps many eyeing their own piggy banks. Following him, though, there’s a returning star: Larry Ellison, who recently climbed back up to the seventh spot with a surge in his fortune thanks to Oracle’s stock, which saw a pleasing 15% increase. Ellison’s wealth has puffed up by $25 billion, blowing his total net worth to a jaw-dropping $193 billion.

But it’s not so cut and dry for everyone on the list. Nvidia’s bright and shiny CEO, Jensen Huang, has fumbled just a smidge, swapping spots with Ellison. Despite his own significant gain of $17 billion, bringing his wealth to $191 billion, Huang now holds the eighth position. On the other hand, it wasn’t a fun month for two previously prominent names—Bernard Arnault of LVMH fame and Warren Buffett, the Oracle of Omaha. Both men have slowly slipped down the ranks due to their respective company’s shares taking a little tumble. Arnault faced the pinch as luxury spending from Chinese shoppers took a hit, while Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway saw its shares retract after an earlier peak.

Meanwhile, making his way into the top 10 with a notable jump is none other than former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. With an impressive gain of $10 billion, Ballmer catapulted himself from number 11 to number nine with a cool $155 billion. Right alongside him, Amancio Ortega, the mastermind behind fast fashion giant Zara, swung up from twelfth to tenth place, increasing his net worth by $5 billion to $148 billion. Not too shabby for a retired head honcho with a penchant for real estate!

Ortega brings a bit of European flair to this otherwise American club, owning a staggering portfolio worth more than $20 billion, featuring properties that house retail giants like Apple and Amazon. His expertise in real estate truly pays off, providing him with over $400 million in yearly dividends. That’s some serious cash for royalty-style living!

As September rolls on, it’s clear that fortunes can change as quickly as the weather, yet it remains evident that the rich get richer while most of us barely keep up with inflation. Whether it’s through tech advancements, luxury brands, or fast fashion, these men have proven that they are not only on the money-making fast track, they’re also steering the course of the economy. So, for now, let’s pop some popcorn and see how the wealth ladder shifts into October!
