And let’s face it, who would willingly gift wrap that?
It appears we’ve got a bit of a conundrum here. We have politicians, from those subscribing to leftist ideologies to some misguided folks on the right, rallying against AI under the guise of it being the next tech menace. Spoiler alert: The United States is a constitutional republic. The founding fathers went out of their way to make sure of it, too. The way some politicians toss around the concept of democracy, one might wonder if they’ve only skimmed the CliffNotes version of the Constitution. In real life, we don’t conduct referendums on every innovation or industry; representatives are there for a reason—to make decisions that encompass national interests, especially in critical areas like AI.
The stakes with AI aren’t confined to futuristic tech fantasies. Whether it’s technology, medical innovations, or potential cures for diseases, everything is on the line. Today’s generations face the monumental task of securing future American prosperity and security. Surrendering AI supremacy to China is akin to handing them the keys to not only technological innovation but our future. The whole world has it in focus. Yet, here in the United States, some politicians are playing a risky game of ‘Let’s Pretend it’s Still 1999’ while the rest of the globe races toward 2030.
It’s baffling why anyone would consciously choose a future where America plays second fiddle. The challenge is real and immense, but it’s not insurmountable if folks pause to recalibrate their perspectives. As Americans sip on the coffee of constitutional reality, they need a wake-up call to ensure they are not sleepwalking into China’s artificial intelligence trap. Otherwise, they might just find themselves asking Siri where it all went wrong.
