DoorDasher’s Horror: Skull Fractures in Vicious Attack

In an age where road rage seems to be a regrettable staple of modern driving, a particularly disturbing incident out of North Carolina reinforces just how far some individuals are willing to go. The sequence of events unfolded like a twisted action movie, all because of an impatient honk at a traffic light. Stanley Shockley, a 44-year-old man, demonstrated just how seriously he took his road rage by allegedly attacking Kristen Phillips, a DoorDash driver, with a baseball bat. His choice of weaponry suggests some people might take sports a bit too literally off the field.

Kristen Phillips, the unwitting protagonist in this tale, was simply doing her job, delivering food late into the morning hours of August 1st. You can imagine her surprise when her seemingly ordinary shift turned perilous after a mere honk. She described that she had merely honked at a stationary vehicle at a green light. Instead of moving on with his day like a rational being, Shockley reportedly decided that a dose of medieval justice was in order, proceeding to tailgate and stalk her during her delivery rounds.

The situation escalated dramatically when Shockley allegedly blocked her car as she attempted to deliver an order. It is at this point that he supposedly revealed his preferred wooden tool of assault. Demonstrating that self-defense classes might not cover the threat of a random-person-with-bat scenario, Phillips was reportedly beaten around her head and face. Let this be a reminder: when you find yourself stopped at intersections, maybe just practice your patience or take a scenic detour. She somehow managed to drive herself to medical help afterward, which is commendable given that she was reportedly suffering from skull fractures and brain bleeds.

Unsurprisingly, the investigation wasn’t a walk in the park. It reportedly took investigators hundreds of hours, poring over vehicle data and surveillance footage to track down the suspect. To think, all that investment of taxpayer dollars just to locate someone who was infuriated by a honk. Let’s hope karma rewards law enforcement’s diligence with fewer such cases in the future. And remember, folks, roadside manners might just save you from unplanned hospital visits.

DoorDash, undoubtedly bewildered at this leap from food delivery to attempted assault with a wooden accessory, expressed their relief at Phillips’ recovery. As Shockley awaits the justice system’s ruling without bond, one can only hope that potential road ragers nationwide are learning a little about self-control. Meanwhile, Phillips will surely have one extraordinary story for her children about why honking back at someone might lead to a bit more trouble than anticipated.
